How do I acquire a marriage license?
Once you have retained the services of Kreative Koncepts, you will be asked to mail us your "Notice of Intended Marriage". We will then submit it to the Registrar General’s office. It takes approximately 15 days for this document to be issued, and is valid for three months from the date of issuance. Copies of Death Certificates or final Divorce Decrees must accompany the “Notice of Intended Marriage” if either the bride or groom has been previously married. Marriage Certificates can also be obtained at the same time the “Notice of Intended Marriage” is filed.
How much does it cost?
The cost of the marriage license is $330 inclusive of one marriage certificate
Can I get additional copies?
In future, if an additional marriage certificate is needed, they cost $46 each. This fee is regulated by the Bermuda Government and is subject to change.
Is there a minimum length of stay in order to get married on the island?
There is no required length of stay prior to getting married in Bermuda.
Are there restrictions on the days I can get married?
Weddings are generally performed from Monday through Saturday. However, a Sunday wedding can be arranged at an additional cost.
Do I need to bring witnesses or are they provided?
If you have friends or relatives that you would like to stand in, then you can certainly go that route. These individuals MUST be 18years of age or older in order to sign the marriage certificate. If you will not be having any guests, we can provide you with two witnesses at a minimal cost.
Will my marriage be legally recognized worldwide?
Yes. You should receive your official marriage certificate within a month after departing from the island.
Can I have a civil wedding ceremony?
Yes. This usually takes place at the Registrars office or at another agreed upon location where a marriage officer will preside over the service.
Can I get married in a church?
Yes. This service is available for a fee and varies depending on the church. There are denominations and churches on island ranging from Methodist to Muslim.
Can I get married in Bermuda if I am Catholic?
Yes. Non-Bermudians who wish to marry in a Roman Catholic Church are considered on an individual basis. Please let us know the type of service you wish to have and we will locate the appropriate minister that can reflect your beliefs. Catholic priests in Bermuda will NOT perform outdoor ceremonies and will not marry Catholics in their church unless the couple has family ties on the island. Do I need a blood test?
No blood tests or health certificates are required.
